If they are universial binary then yes, if not they will not work and this is final. That said, LinPlug have updated most of their range now, once NI follow suit things will become much better. IZotope has updated the majority of their product line and I've amassed a decent collection of free AU's/Vsts from the likes of smartelectronix (such as the Camel Compressor, that is the best compressor I've ever heard and an extremely useful plugin to boot).

im using pc now n i hav loads of plugins i can use

..just downloaded it online...

wel im not familiar with mac ..thats y im still finding out if i can run it with mac

What's this camel compressor from smartelectronix. Never heard of such a thing.

If you're using Warez then there's little point getting OSX. As with viruses, trojans etc, most illicit coders compile stuff for Windows, not OSX. That's not to say there is not pirated software for OSX, but the frequencey is minimal comparatively speaking.

I don't think he's talking abotu warez, but legit free plugins ppl have made and put on the net. I am in the saame situation, looking at moving from windows to a macbook and live but I currently have loads of free plugins and wondered how much is really available in UB. Whilst the big names like NI are doing UBs I guess lots of the developers of freeware won't bother recoding....

Though he stated Orange Vocoder, which to my knowledge is not a 'free' plugin, unless of course it is cracked.

I moved from PC to a 2GHz MacBook and I'm estatic thus far. Whilst it is a shame that some of my old plugins cease to work, in many ways I've now been forced into learning new software and this will no doubt be reflected in my new productions.

I thought I couldn't have suvived without my Yamaha Final Master and my Moog Modulator, but now I've found different ways to acheive the same agenda.

Live will hopefully rock on version 6

Logic runs as smooth as a babys bum and the macbook sits pretty sing the logic plugins, hardly a hit to the CPu and not too much heat either

cant recommend enough.

So I guess the plugins issue with IntelMacs can be a good thing ina way....

Seems like there's quite a few of you running MacBooks for audio... are any of you experiencing the heat issues that ppl have been moaning about? Some of the things ppl have experienced with warped cases etc seem a bit worrying, is it just the internet magnifying things or is there really a heat issue with these machines?

for all those converts?

is it a hard switch? meaning does it take time to get used to a new system?

being at home with pc then transfering to mac?

I found a lot of the little idiosyncracies (sp?) of the OSX universe a bit difficult to deal with. But all in all the experience has been positive. Worst thing was finding out that Front Row sucked ass. Thank god for Mira and VLC.

Well I won't lie, they do get hot. I'd say after a three hour session of watching DVD's and playing around in Ableton, my core temperature was around 60/70 degrees C. Which is hot, but no worse than my old Dell Inspiron 5500, which actually used to shut itself down after a couple of hours of use in the Summer due to overheating. I heard this was because Dell manufactured the unit with the error of putting the heatsink on the CPU back to front.

Meanwhile, whether the heat is actually an 'issue' is open to discussion, but I've experienced no problems with it beyond a slight anxiety about the welfare of the thing itself. Despite the core temperature being high, the machine itself is not hot to touch accept near the top left hand side. I suppose ultimately, if I had the chance to swap the machine with something else of similar specifications, I'd decline on the grounds that I believe it is an excellent computer.

I've experienced no problems at all, OSX is far easier to use than Windows and just seems like a much more logical way to operate a computer. Spotlight is by far the most effective program ever, it totally changes the way you use a computer. Or at least it has done for me. I've only seen OSX crash once to the point were it demanded to restart itself. Considering I've had the computer around six weeks, I think this acceptable comparatively speaking. Windows seems to crash once a session, as a matter of fact after I reformated my desktop Windows actually crashed on its first boot! How this is possible I've no idea.

So basically, yes I've converted and yes, I'll never even consider buying a another PC again. Since Windows 98, I've found it to be an untidy, inefficient and occasionally outright stupid operating system.
