If you get a working MacBook, I sincerely doubt you'll be disappointed. I've had mine for around six weeks and it's a beautiful machine. I used to use a Dell Inspiron 5500, which had it's fair share of problems. Apart from overheating, looking clunkly, being too heavy and having a poor battery life, it was a decent machine as far as computers go. Anyway, here's the likes and dislikes of my MacBook

Likes :-

OSX, honestly it IS much better than Windows. As I was typing this response Windows crashed lol. OSX isn't crash proof, but I'd say it's crashed a program two or three times since I've had it and had to restart twice. Programs in Windows crash every session for me.

SuperDrive - why the hell PC manufacturers still insist in putting those extending drive bays on their laptops is beyond me. They are truely awful.

Looks beautiful

Feels sturdy, well designed.

Nice little features (like Magsafe, Magnetic latch, easy access to RAM/HD)

Screen has to be seen to be believed, jpegs look like photos!

Runs Ableton nicely, but with audio dropouts (not sure if this is my MacBook or ableton, but I definitely need more RAM).

Logic Express is lightening fast.

Ultra portable, very light and very small but powerful computer. Compare MacBooks with Wintel notebooks on size and I think you'll find most of them are designed with size and weight taking priority over specs, MacBook does both (though does get hot).

No Virus etc!

Dislikes:-

Whilst being sturdy, it does seem to scratch quite easily.

Not much support for UB, but this will change by Christmas.

That's it, honestly.

Yup, I'd have to agree with all the above points, including the dropouts, but I'm sure theres a way past these glitches. They do scratch VERY easily though

whatever you decide to buy, get a good one with 2gigs of ram and a fast HD.

Mac book pro core duo MINIMUM or Toshiba with same spects.

they both will work fine.

I am waiting to get the new mac book pro core2 duo that will be on stores soon.

Dont try so save money on a low end computer or else you will be regrented. good luck.

Apparently Apple said their notebook line will be updated before the close of the festive season. Despite a good chance this means anything, you'd assume before Christmas. Should you wait? Well, I suppose it's dependent on what you need to do on the notebook and how soon you need to do it. Core2Duo is faster, or cooler depending on how you look at it. The 64-Bit processors don't provide much in terms of speed, but rather that you can take advantage of more than 2GB of RAM. Though obviously not in a notebook.

if u follow this advice (which i personally recon is very good advice)then definitley buy the Mac .. why ? because price wise they are pretty near the same and you can run XP or Vista or Linux or OSX on the Mac hardware so you OS at boot
