i think chomsky's career as a linguist points to his ability to actually steer clear of the rhetorical bullshit our politicians (on both sides of the spectrum) feed us... and if there is one truth to be found in contemporary politics and world events, its the actions and events that write history.

once you can see through the bullshit, suddenly all you have is actual events to draw conclusions from. Chomsky speaks of actual events in history.


and to be frank, you can't fuck with that.

"The people of the United States should read this ... instead of the watching Superman movies," Chavez later told reporters.

Bash Bush and gain support from your grassroots. This is Chavez's agenda. It's about time that someone spoke out on the international sphere about American foriegn policy, but I personally feel it would be more useful if it was constructive criticism, as opposed to name calling. Chavez may well be as insane as Bush, but you can't criticise his affection for the poor, whether it be for his own ends or not, at least he is doing something positive, unlike Bush and his administration.

I'm afraid that constructive criticism for Bush would be like potty training a rodeo bull.

Good book btw, it lays out the US' pattern of influencing a foreign country that's in conflict. Support one side (or both) of a conflict, set up industries to rape the local resources, take advantage of local labor then leave.

Yes, the American people really need to realise they are not living in any meaningful form of democracy. This is the age of corporations and their unprecedented power needs to be revoked.

Chavez said he was sorry he didn't get to meet Chomsky before he died.... but Chomsky isn't even dead.
