I don't seem to be able to to get my head round the Grain Delay plugin, sat down many times with the intention of creating some nice presets that might help me find a use for it but I tend to give up after about 10 mins.

i always like that thing on guitars (usually reversed :p )

i set it to standard intervals and keep the feedback and spray to zero, also keeping the frequency pretty low too

sounds like this

I have a hard time understanding the midi and audio side of Live. Everything else I'm pretty solid on. I am -excellent- at resizing columns and moving faders up and down.

That's pretty good, now I have something to work towards..

I'm pretty handy with the tab key myself. I can change the whole layout of most of the screen with one keystroke, then instantly switch it back to how it was.

I'm learning to toggle it back & forth really fast, keeps the audience guessing!

yeah, I'd be able to find it quicker with only one, too many choices!

Follow actions. I am having issues right now trying to get an unwarped track to loop properly (unwarped because it's a very soft field recording I want to use as a bed, and warping causes sound distortion). I understand the concept of how follow actions work, but even after reading the FM and the stuff on it in Chad Carrier's book, I'm having trouble applying the theory to "real world" music processing.

later,
John

Understood. I am using unwarped samples all the time (to maintain the highest quality possible and/or the original playback speed) and so I just have to guess where at which beat and note the end point of the loop should be: 'play again' . I do not understand at all that there is no loop function for unwarped samples, just as there is no automated envelope for unwarped samples possible (in the session/clip view). I don't get it. This has to be a new feature item. For the time being, I manage...

I'm having a great deal of trouble with the feature of changing time signatures in arrange view being missing.

beat repeat

i load the beastie up and everytime it does anything but repeat

then i watch Robert Henke's video explaining it - and i sorta get the idea up until roberts head appears and starts spinning like a mad thing

customizing my workflow. I have done some handy key and midi mappings to ease the recording process, but I know I could do better and it would just be nice to be exposed to the way others customize live.

(also customizing with bomes or auto hotkeys would be nice)

I want to make the most out of Live and the SL25, but I know I am not even close, regardless of the tunes I have made. I know the setup could be better.

As this is the original tempo of the file before being warped? Or there's some error in warping.

I can't for the the life of me figure out why abes selected the [-] key for "zoom out" and [shift +] for "zoom in". Why not use the 2 keys beside each other with both on shift or both without shift? Who cares what the keys are actually labeled. Sure, having [+] and [-], as labeled on the keys makes sense literally, but is 10x's more fidgety to use.

Going back and forth with the shift key is kind of silly. It would be really handy to use those keys if it weren't for the shift thing.

Sorry if I sound like I'm bitching & moaning. Ok, thinking positive...Maybe easy to use zoom keys will be a new feature in Live 6!
