interesting concept. I guess that the intellectual property of the item is the issue - who legally owns it? I like the idea though, a net wide repository for ASD files. I guess the next issue is quality control. One mans warp is another mans ... well you know

I've considered the option, but there's too much details to it.
For example: .asd files are specific to the file they are made from. So that means that every song has to be the same size and length.
Which would require everybody who didn't get it from the original cd, to re-render the track to match the specs.
So you'll have to post the .asd files + all the specifications.
And people will have to agree to a specific sample- and bitrate. (Wav of Aiff)
The dude who sells warped wav's will be the one making the money.
Though he'll have to charge more then the record is worth in the store...

I have never dealt with getting live to recognize an external .asd with its sound file. How is this done?

Thats great!
Though when doing the same with un-even audio there becomes hundreds of warping points you have to delete one by one! What do you do then?
Sorry, un-even beats is what I ment to say. Aucustic music and textural samples. Thats what I need to loop.

You could probably distribute .alc's easier. I think they would still import with no media, then you could just drag the new file from the browser into the waveform display for the .alc clip. Wouldn't that work?
