I like BT's productions a lot. I think his obsessive compulsive disorder over quantizing everything is something we can learn a lot from...whether we do it is our own choice to join that kind of sickness...

Up until Binary Universe, I've always enjoyed his music. With Binary Universe, it became clear to me that the self-indulgent BT has come out. That album is completely pretentious and pure crap, and I can only hope he gets the Movements in Still Life magic back some day.

As for BT having anything to do with trance music, that's also a load of pure crap. BT made some house music and he's made some interesting melodic and epic house tracks. As for what we now call modern trance, BT has never done anything like it. He did not invent trance. He doesn't make trance.

On another note, whoever said that his breakz are some of the best is correct. The man knows his breakz and he know his production skillz. As for his music, it's hit or miss. Currently, it's a BIG MISS.

I was just watching "GO!" again last night and realized he had done the soundtrack. He did an awesome job with mashing/mixing 60s and 70s era stuff on it.

Even if you don't like his music you have to have heard his work on musical scores. I've heard his music in the past and deleted the mp3s but you'd have to be ignorant to dismiss his genius. I read that he did a vocal remix just using the phonemes of a woman's voice! I'd like to see one of the haters pull THAT off.

Hmmm. What I like about TBU is that it really seems very pure. Like this is exactly the music that BT wants to make at the moment. It's not pointed in any certain genre or audience direction, but is in fact pretty unique and varied. I love his more "pop" stuff like Movement and ET, but I feel TBU is great in another way, more artistic than radio or dance floor material.

To each his own...there's only so much I can take of the neverending boredom of 256th-note-quantized rain drops...

Heh, I can definitely understand that TBU isn't for everyone. I just don't think it should be called pretentious or bad because it isn't to someone's taste. It's different. (And great in my opinion )

I reallly love bacon tomato sandwiches.. I prefer double smoked bacon and roma tomatoes... I find that the roma tomatoes are much firmer and do not cause the whole wheat bun to go soggy... To top it off a nice thick layer of mayo....

That's what I had for lunch!! but with jack cheese, salsa and guacamole thrown on there. No pics, you have to wait a few hours for that.

i seriously never heard of this guy until i seen him in a add for some audio interface in some magazine..i thought he worked for the audio interface company.

I think he's a really good producer, ESCM and Binary Universe are both really well done IMO. Movement and his last hairdo one turned me off completely though. He gets a little too much press, and takes a little too much credit for things at times. Obviously very talented, I think he just alienated a lot of underground people when got famous and started hanging with the Back Street Boys, doing movies, etc. Certainly no artist wants to do the same thing forever, but not everyone understands that.

I think its perhaps a case of Tall Poppy Syndrome or just the mournful wailing of genre Nazi’s.

I have much respect for BT personally. He is an incredible producer and songwriter, he is very generous with giving details of any and all production tricks he uses, he is clearly doing exactly what he wants to do, and he has tremendous amounts of fun doing it.

I don't like everything he's done, but when I saw him live the first time I realized he is all about having fun, and I respect that greatly. It was at some club in Dallas (Blue?) and they got him out on the trapeze bars the dancers use after his set, and seeing him attempting to twirl around on those, and failing quite miserably, all with a huge smile on his face - was priceless!!

I really think his music is honest, emotional, highly intelligent, extremely well produced, and lots of fun. I have a hard time with some aspects that seem cheesy to me, but then again I also have a hard time experiencing some emotions like joy, happiness, etc...so go figure. Emotional Technology was hard to swallow, but I love it now...it's an expression of the man's soul.

As for This Binary Universe, it's just about the opposite of his previous work....no vocals, just a beutiful synthesis of organic and electronic textures, glitchy beats, cinematic ambience, and crystal clear production. I got it a few days after my mother and grandmother passed away, and a couple of weeks before my wedding....all I can say is that it has helped me emotionally in tremendous ways.

Keep an open mind, think for yourself, and have fun!!!
