Your selling it to yourself now, if you have 2 faderfoxes you will have about 3 times as much controll as the 3d from a midi.

1 more thing, the build of them is solid, the faders are strong and they feel like they could survive any kind of impact.

Im not at all worried abouy carrying them loose in my bag with plugs and adapters, and the batteries last for months.

So there is no way of syncing up your tune in ableton with a cd or vinyl with the faderfox?

not so much of a problem, just have to stop the previous set before you start?

sadly so, there is a device that you can get which is especially for that purpose, i cant remember what its called but i will find out.

What i do is - i tap tempo live to the exiting record, stop live altogether, while live is cued in my head phones i press play exactlt when i want that clip to start, and then i adjust the record thats playing to sync into live.

Being a vinyl dj also - i find this easy.

I'm sure this is not a problem but I have read that the faderfox is non-compatible with Live 6, this is not the case with Live 5 is it?

Whoever wrote that is talking bollocks.

Faderfox only gives out midi information, and therefore compatible with any midi software.

I have live 6, i also have 2 faderfox's.

No probs here.

Is there a way of monitoring through your headphones with Faderfox?

So far, I havnt really need to monitor at all but I guess it would be helpful, especially in a live situation

All a faderfox is is a midi controller, it outputs only a midi signal to control the features within live.

They are not mixers or interfaces.

To monitor live while DJing you need to have 2 outputs, I would recomend an echo indigo DJ or a firwire/usb interface if your laptop doesnt have a PCMCIA port.

I'm too sure its really worth it in fact, since learning Live for DJing, I have never felt the need to monitior a track, do you monitor tracks while DJing?

I know all of my tracks really well - but i like to have the option there, just in case i get stuck, and im not sure where to take the mix next.

I always improvise the mix.

A few weeks ago though i did a mix for my sisters Birthday, and i did a style of mixing i dont normally do blending Hip-hop, Scouse house, techno, House and some 80's tunes along with some pink floyd all mixed up together.

Most of these songs i didnt know very well so my plan was to pre plan a set brfore the party, but warping NON Dance tracks took ages and i didnt even have time for a practise run before i started.

I relied quite heavily on being able to preview tracks before playing then to do a good mix.


BAck to the faderfox's, i used the same template in live that i programed for the LV1's and it worked just as well.

I ordered two Faderfoxes this week - one LV2 and one LX2, as the way I DJ involves triggering lots of loops.

I sent the bank transfer to Germany on Monday lunchtime, and the parcel turned up this morning - how fast is that ?

I'm sitting at work counting the minutes 'til I can get home and play....

You are forever triggering loops, but i just use the mouse for that.

I had an LX1 and found that i had to do a lot more work to get a sample to play than just instictivly pressing play usingthe mouse.

But then the beauty of it all is that no 2 people use live in the same way, and therefore their faderfoxes either.

Im willing to bet that you will have another LV1 soon, when you realise he potential of having 2.

The LV1 if you can get second hand one (or 2)

That is my opinion.

The LV range are called LV because they are optimised for Live, and the DJx range have been optimised foNI traKtor.

They have been designed to be modular, as you can reach all of the controlls with one unit (via shift and fader group buttons) you are supposed to have 2.

The amount of instant control is amazing.

The only thing you need to get used to is selecting the channel from the faderfox unit so that the effects on screen match the page of controls on the fader fox.

The LV1 has 8 faders, i have 2 units.

WHen DJing i have 8 channels and with each channel i have effects on screen.

With each channel i have 2 faders, 16 buttons, 8 pots, 2 joysticks (xy).

That is 30 controls per channel.

8 channels which adds up to 240 individual controlls for the channels.

Then i have a further 16 pots that i can control sends and the master channel from, plus 4 joysticks, 2 crossfaders and then the 2 master pots that i control the master volume from 1 and the tempo from the other.

total midi controls for the LV1 controller = 268 + scene and channel selectors.

It is hard to visualise how this can be true when you see photo's of the unit, but someone has said that these units are INSANELEY WELL Thought out.

I have had mine for 18 months and i have seen no other controller that comes anywhere close to these.

If i was to make a custom mixer i would just glue 2 of these together.
