so I'm not sure it's really possible.
Check out the kvr link I posted above :-) It's a proof-of-concept delay plugin that runs on the GPU. There's actually quite a bit of discussion about what can and can't be done this way, and of the author's future plans.

Your blazing new fast GPU could throw some heat on your CPU, even enough to cause your power management to kick in and slow your CPU down. That's one way to raise CPU% without running more VSTs :)

But, as long as your GPU has dedicated video memory, and doesn't slam your system bus, then just *having* a GPU is a good thing. Macbook users have the intel 945 graphics (like many mid-low end pc laptops), which doesn't have it's own memory...it borrows from the system ram, stealing bus cycles the way low end video chips do.

which is quite a shame, given that's possibile to use Gpu power to process audio tasks as vst and similar. Imagine if Live 7 would take advantage of the gpu to power devices and racks...or even the main audio engine.
I can see computers going this way... The PS3's cell processor is a good example of a programmable DSP with multiple functions. You don't write a program to run on the chip, you configure your chips to run your program...
(Weird, I know...)

When computers get to that point, I could easily see using the power of general-utility based DSP as an off-load processor for your audio plugins...

And then monkeys might fly out of my anus... Butt that's another story. :D
