A friend of mine makes this software
Isadora
http://www.troikatronix.com/isadora.html
it was originally designed for dancers wired up to sensors, but many VJs use it.
It is more like MaxMSP or Reaktor than Live, but dont let that put you off - it is very easy to use and very powerful & flexible.

Composite Station is probably the best live VJ software there is. When Live came out...I was like wow...this is like Composite Station for Audio.
Here is a little page about it at audiovisualizers.com...as well as the trial download.

Any of you familiar with TWINE and thier live peformances.....they use Composite Station and Ableton Live together to create their a/v performances on the fly. If you havent seen them live....do so if you ever get the chance.

if live had video support, or they made a completely different VJ program that supported rewire (for time sync) I would be all over that. I'd easily spend $500+ for that alone. there is no good loop based on the fly VJ software i know of.

Look directly above your post. There most certainly is. Composite Station is an amazing loop based on the fly vj app. I wouldnt be surprised if it was part of the inspiration for Ableton Live.

If this gets implemendted, please let it be a product, so I don't have to pay for it if I don't want to use it ...

Hi Hambone
So do you have Live running on one of the G4s and Arkaos on the other? If so, what do you use to sync them up?

Hambone, what do you use to interface Live to your lighting system?

I'm running Live and Arkaos on the same Powerbook. Haven't got a projector yet, so just planning and programming to a second monitor. Lights run through a MIDI-DMX converter, which converts either note-on velocities or CC messages to DMX. It works great! I run two 6-channel scanners and two 3-channel color washes. I'm trying not to abuse the technology.. tastefully using the video, scanners, and washes separately. It's just basic private function DJ stuff, so not too demanding on Live. I have toyed with the idea of running additional percussion/sound effects/etc to a set of rear speakers to complement the song coming out of the main PA.
Hope that helps!

I am using modul8 from
www.garagecube.com, mac only, it's the best and most stable vj program on mac in my experience.

The Edirols controllers have something called V-link , wouldnt it be something like that midi-dmx thingy? I was told it is for the lights. I am considering to get that slim PCR1 M so here would be another reason to get Edirol product since they all have that V link.

Another vote for modul8 on the mac here! The thing even "looks" like Live
