Whenever I find myself with a track that just doesn't work for me I always keep it. Somewhere along the line I'll filter to heck and play it backwards. Just really destroy the sound and loop it in to a new composition.
Perhaps what you create sounds even better player backwards through a phaser. Until you try it, you won't know.
