I fully admit I need more time to get comfortable with OSX, I may have something set incorrectly. Though as far as I can tell, I followed the Live 5 performance test to the T.

So on p51 of the performance test, there's someone claiming 15-16% on a macbook pro 2.16 Ghz core duo, and further down a core 2 duo macbook 2.16 at 19-20%.

Besides, I get 28% with a 2Ghz macbook, so I'm thinking that 15-16% figure is a little suspect for 2.16 core1duo.

done a search through the performance thread.... these are the macbook pro ones i can find... pretty sure the first was done on live 5...
Tarekith, are you doing the test with Live 5.2 or 6?

Live 6.01, and yes, dual processor support is on.
What do I think of OSX? Man, that's hard to say right now! THings are VERY different from uising an XP machine, so I'm still learnign what's what and trying to find my way around. Repartitioning and installing the OS is dead easy compared to XP, that much I can say.
The hard part now is just learning how to navigate and such in OSX, thigns are a lot different. I'm used to XP's key commands, and MAcs have entirely different ways of doing things related to alt, cmd, and ctrl buttons. Heck, the delete key works like a XP backspace key, not like the XP delete key, so even type is difficult at times still. Jst things to get used to though.
Overall from what I can tell so far, it's all much more intuitive. Installing apps and plug ins is different, but much more logical once you grasp the organization in OSX. there's no hidden files, or registry crap to deal with. I'll post more later after I spend more time learning things.
The hardware is AWESOME though, everything about the MBP is class. Mine doesn't get hot at all, no idea why people were making such a big deal about that. had mine on my lap all night, didn't get any warmer than my HP one did. even playing with the Live peformance test.

Yes, when it goes right apple's hardware really is second to none.
Regarding OSX, it will take you around a month to get used to it fully. I recommend downloading Quicksilver and reading up a little about to use it. It's amazing, totally change the way you think about an operating system. Spotlight is also brilliant, i use it for everything from finding files to running programs.
