1. How does the harddrive integrate into the mpc? can you stream samples off of it or do you have to load them into ram from the HD?
2. do i need the black( 2nd Gen ) MPC1000, to use the HD? or just OS 2.0
- or -
3. Does JJ OS support the hard drive?
1. Just like the Card - Load samples into RAM
2. Any MPC1000 with OS 2.0 or JJ OS.
3. Yes JJ OS is THE BOMB

d das - thanks for the tips, works great! muahuahuahuahua!!!
mpc is another instrument, like getting a hardware synth, but I think jesus is playing a joke I'm not awake or high enough to get right now. I had to get out of bed early so I can make more beats.
The compact size is great too, no bigger than my remote sl25, bcr, sound card or laptop.

ok, now syncing the mpc with live, has anyone got this down.
i want to play along in real time with the sytnhs i have sequenced in live and want it to be in sync. i ran a blank midi track to my sound card then to the mpc and turned sync out on to port a and no such luck. can you sync it with a daw? you must be able to.
well, i keep trying.
anyone?

I sync the mpc to live w/o problems, it seem to me that it's better if live is the master. Still no luck if I connect the mpc's audio into computer, I toyed quite a lot with delay compensation but it just won't be right on sync, if I route computer and mpc to a mixing desk I have no issues.

@ minimal.
Have you adjust the delay compensation at the bottom of a fader in the session view, or the midi out latency compensation?
There's a diffenrence between them. To get a synced Mpc - Live
connection you have to adjust the midi Latency compensation in the midi options. In my case it's 22ms. Works perfect.
I Think the delay compensation in the session view is only for Plugs (plugin dely compensation).

I played a bit with the two, w/o nice results anyway, and being a lazy fuck sometimes I haven't investigated more deeply, since now I re-connected all my hardware and mising desk I don't need to route the mpc into the computer soundcard.
Tonight I'll give another try so that I can avoid to bring the mixer to every live gig.
Thanks!

What do you want to do exactly? "connect to computer soundcard" instead of hardware mixer or run it through Live ( or whatever) other software. The second option means you will drive yourself mad freiwillig. Even the basic master><slave sync does not work too perfectly anything more then that..... forget about it. If you dont and find a miraculous solution please let everyone know

rikyray,
I wanted to ba able to synth mpc and live w/o need of mixer. I bought an RME exactly to be able to use hardware w/o external mixer and mix into the computer.(I have a very big one which is a mess to lug around for gig and it's ridicolous to be onstage with 24 channel mixer when you need

.
So I thought I could have done it playing with delay compensation/driver compensation in order to compensate the latency of the computer.
My live states input latency 5.33 ms and output latency 5.33 ms, so I thought I had to "anticipate" live by 10.66 ms but the test I did with a simple 4/4 kick loop both in live and mpc didn't give any good result, the two kick just won't be *exactly* in snyc, always a bit shifted.
I tried both track delay and midi delay, it was only today I eventually understood, thanks to m:o that I have to use midi delay, but it didn't work too.
That's why now in studio I have everything connected to the mixer, both live and mpc, and the monitors are plugged into the mixer.
Im gonna buy a shitty el cheapo behringer mixer even if I truly hate the brand but with 100 CHF i can have 4 mono and 2 stereo channels which is enough for my live gigs.
I can live with a bit of loss of sound quality onstage, club PAs are anyway far from audiophile quality.

Before you waste money on behringer check the routing options of the RME, dont know which model you have but there is that thing called matrix. Set your hardware synths to bypass the computer.
RME gives you even midi option, so you could use a simple midi controller Doepfer or BCF for your RME "mixer" You could also split the signals of MPC and whatever other hardware and send parallel through Live for the effects only (latency wouldnt be so relevant since you will be having your dry signal bypassing computer anyway).
At least you could use Lives reverb, MPCs effects are cheesy.
