Mind you I must admit I have not really pushed it much

Worth a shot....

From a technical point of view, the solution does not make sense. When using ST as a VSTi the sound card drive is out of the picture; the host proxies all of that. I.E. The VSTi technically should *not* care what the driver is.

That being said, I too am running an 1820M in asio mode and the solution you've found might be more subtle. It may be that it's the latency increase that is inherent with the DX driver that is 'solving' the problem, not necessarily anything to do with the sound card per se. Just a crappy handling of a fast audio stream in general!

I will certain give that a try (and I'll also give ASIO4ALL a whirl).

Since this issue seems to hold no interest at all for IK, I will no longer purchase *anything* from that company. I will also never invest in proprietary sample libraries that cannot be ported; including Reason Refill format libraries. Just bugs me that a software developer doesn't produce software good enough for the price so they have to 'lock up' their sounds as their value proposition.

I'm using a Mac since late November.
Live 6.0.1 and now Live 6.0.3.
ST2 (2.2 UB) works fine both in multiple instance and single instance multiple outputs mode. I have to say that Live does not 'read' the VST version (it's a 2.3 VST version anyway) that does not show up in the Plug-ins browser but allows to use the AU version.
So far no crashes.
It seems that when you have Live+XP+ST2 you have problem while when Live+OSX+ST2 problems are not coming. Very strange. I do not know who to blame, but Abes specs where clear: on the Mac only VST 2.4 will be allowed.
ST2 on Windows is a VST 2.3, maybe this is the root of the problem, Steinberg's specifications were clear, IK is not rewriting his software.
Let me know your comments on that. I still have problems on XP!

Could you try out my "work around" and let me know if it solves your problems?

Thanks,

Ghost.

Done.
If I use the ASIO driver that comes with my FW soundcard SampleTank becomes unstable, especially if I use multiple istance. If I stop and play in fast sequence I have 60% probability to crash Live. If I use MME drivers for Soundblaster chance is reduced a lot, I can almost call it stable. Didn't tried DX yet, probably I forgot to install that drivers. If this comes out to be true then it's ASIO, for on my MacBook with CoreAudio using the AU version of ST2 it works.

Hope this helps.
