I've got a PC with a 2.8 dual core and projects that were maxing out in Live 5 now tick over nicely at around 50-60% in Live 6 :D

Was well worth the upgrade just for that!

Just got a Pentium D 2.66 Ghz dual core tower with a Gig of RAM for $440 CDN.
Top that power to dollar ratio.

Wish laptops were that cheap.

Dual Core - I agree - it's a must

Just bought a DELL Inspiron 6400 for £529 all in (including VAT + shipping the next day!). It's got an Intel Centrino M 2GHz Duo processor, 1Gb RAM and 80Gb hard drive. http://www.dell.co.uk

Let me tell you - Live 6 was struggling on my older, single core Inspiron 6000. It took about a minute to start up Live 6 and then was hitting 60-75% CPU with 3+ tracks containing my normal, greedy VSTs like Chameleon 5000 and FabFilter Twin/Volcano. Same set in the new machine rarely goes above 25% CPU.

I'm lovin' it (and so are my wife/kids, who now get my hand-me-down Inspiron 6000, heh heh).
