sorry to hi jack this thread again, but i bought that sweet waveform pack as suggested, my question is where do you store all the wave forms to access them through absynth? do you access them throught the patch window or wave window, and if wave window did you place all the wave forms in with absynths wave library? because to do this they would all need to be taken out of their folders and unorganized.

any tips please

I put the individual file folders (Additive - NonSine, Additive - Partials 2...) here:

Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Absynth 4/Libraries/Wave

I'm using Absynth 4. Apparently Absynth 2 and 3 can only see one folder at a time. Not sure what you do in that case... maybe swapping folders in and out... Galbanum may have a note on this, either in the documentation or on the site.

HTH!

And on Windows you place them in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Native Instruments/Absynth 4/Libraries/Wave. They'll appear in the wave menu under library waves.

With A2 and A3, you have to shuffle them in and out of the folder. Neither A2 or A3 allows library subfolders, and the maximum waves allowed is 256. You'll see the others, but none after the 256th will load.

I have them both and can definitely suggest Absynth over Massive. The modulation is great, a lot like FM7/8s in that it's completely modular but I dunno, I dont make trance and techno and stuff like that so I do a lot less processing on my sounds than I used to when Drum and Bass was the sound of choice.

Absynth just sounds great! Presets/Waves are workable from the start and the mangling potential with those great filters can still create a lot of madness.

As far as Massive goes, Id even go as far as to say the MiniMonsta VSTi is more of a recommended buy than it. But others swear by it.

They are so great
I explore, test, experiment new sounds...

I just have one problem!
I use them with Live as plugin VST and there are a lot of strange things about the database of preset

as a plugin, sometimes, and even if I first used it as stand alone module, GUI becomes crazy and I cannot view anyhing in the browser windows
When it happens, I have to rebuild database...
and after that, ok ! no problem

I didn't still correlate it to another thing I can do
...

if someone has an idea... :)
I've run Massive, er MASSIVE on an HP Pavilion DV9000T CTO Laptop w/Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz 2Gb 667Mhz memory under XP Pro SP2 and never had the GUI get whacky on me. What type of a system you running it on? I will say even with what I have for a Laptop is uses >30% CPU usage in Live 6.0.x. Definitely a CPU HOG. As for Absynth, if they were talking about A4 I can't help you as I don't have it (STILL....but that's another story about NI). I use A3 once in awhile. I should peruse the tutorials/videos online for these beasties....
