thirded. what the fuck did they do? i just loaded up the demo with one of my favorite presets (mix finalize 1) on the master and i get distorted garbage instead of the perfectly leveled mix i got from vw1...what did they do?
for real it can't be this bad??? i'm completely floored. this HAS to be bug related...i just can't believe they could screw things up on purpose...i mean, i get overages on the ableton meter even with the brick wall option turned on, which is obviously wrong. oh and its not backward compatible.

Hello all
As said in subject line, all is well here. Both systems are good to go, not aware of any problems thus far.

Krzysztof

Krzysztof,
i'm assuming you're one of the developers? if so thanks for responding...i've posted to your forum with a preliminary bug report. i'm in the process of checking things out on a non-intel mac right now, so i'll post regarding anything else i find. thanks...

alright, i did some testing and this looks like a really bad bug. the difference in sound quality of an identical live set on a macbook and g4 powerbook is hugely different. the powerbook sounds fine while the macbook is distorted by bad digital sounding clipping. we're not talking crashing either, these are problems in audio quality that new users won't know are incorrect behavior for a plug and the result of a bug.

Just to mention that I am having the same experiences as scientist.

man, more problems with the new version...i've been trying to test intel vs non-intel to see if there's really some sort of difference in sound quality, but there's so much strange stuff going on with this plug that i can't even get good test results. like i'll open an .als created on one computer on a second computer, and the instance of vw is still there but not actively doing anything...on/off, knobs...nothing change the sound. weird shit.
on top of that, i did some side by side testing of vw1 and vw2 of the same presets, and across the board vw1 sounds so much better. anyone else using this thing and having better results than me? this is the only plug outside of live's built in ones that i really use with any frequency...to see a company with such a great plug and such a great reputation go and screw it up is beyond me. such a bummer.

If you upgrade to v2, do 1 & 2 show up as separate plugins? I'm just wondering what happens if you open up old tracks that were created with v1.

dunno, dunno.....
but this to me is a joke of some sorts........
It took a long time to get this out for unibin's, which is fine and all IF they would have gotten it right.......but what is the deal? It's just not the same ol' wonderful VW that I really wanted bad.
I'm guessing by the other comments that I am not alone? (for the most part?)

they show up as separate plugs...so .als files with vw1 in them will not be replaced by vw2. and supposedly you can't even load your old presets but i haven't tried...i've been too busy tracking down bugs and being generally bummed at the whole situation.

man, i'm sorry to hear all this.
maybe it's time to move on from PSP?
anyway, thanks for doing all the leg work. it's mind boggling how these companies can release such buggy shit. hope it resolves soon.

in psp's defense both the developers have contacted me directly to try and track down problems, so at least they're trying. they just need to learn a lesson from ableton and have their development process be more open...if they so much as asked their customers what they wanted in vw2 i think 99% would have said "don't change anything". i mean despite any bugs...to change the way vw sounds fundamentally makes no sense. they can feel free to add features as long as you still have the old functionality available...eq4 to eq8, or the revisions to saturator for example. added plenty of functionality but the original options are still there.

Since I am having the exact same problems you are having, I will also help in anyway I can.

fyi, i just heard from psp and they said they found a bug that causes the brick wall limiter to not engage when in stereo linked mode. hopefully this will fix the audio problem....though there's still more issues to deal with.
