I am currently using an MX310, and absolutely love it. Bought one for my girlfriend, and she adores it as well. So much better than the mice we used to have at work.
That being said. When this one goes, or when I feel the need for a new toy, I would definitely go with the MX518. That think looks sweet as hell.
But, I also sort of like the mighty mouse. But haven't used it for audio apps.

I use the cheapy windows mice .. usb, 3 button and scroll wheel on any desktop and the trackpad on my MBPro with 2 finder scrolling and 2 finger tap for right click
I have never liked apple mice and it's the first thing to go for me

I just bought a Microsoft WirelessLaserMouse8000
for using with my MBP, and I've to say it's great.
It works over Bluetooth without the dongle, but the installation process is a bit tricky and not documented at all.
Of course batterie control over the software isn't working as it should on a Mac,
but basic funtionality and batterie life are great.
My last Logitech MX 500 was good too.

we actually have a wireless microsoft mouse for our intelMini, which has an awesome driver pack, and battery control works. mac drivers for microsoft mice... what will the world come to, eh?

my mighty mices (bluetooth and standard) work great. battery life? for two months and always on (when the computers on) it's still full!
although certainly not made for ableton, they are very very good for like logicpro. But I like the 360 scroll.
I have an old logitech thumbtrackball that is nice as a change, but when you get used to the 360 scroll, it's hard to use anything else.
Someone mentioned the "right click"....sadly......I did not know until about a month ago.....how embarassing....

Another vote for Logitech, though on the macbook I'm OK with the pad simply because the two finger scroll is so dammed useful. Mix it with holding down the control button for fun!

maybee it's true, i have a 7 year old macally micro mouse and that works untill now absolut flawless, but they might have changed in quality over the years. i don't know.
and yes for logitech, too
the v270 bluetooth is working absolut well with my MBP.

these MX series mice everyone loves: maybe i'm a mouse-idiot, but NONE of your recommendations are trackball. are you all using big old mouse pads?
also the mx310 is PC. do you think it would work with an old Powerbook?
lastly, i'm noticing these are mostly WIRED MICE (too much coffee). any success-stories with USB-wireless?

I am looking to buy Logitech Marble® Mouse. It is ambidextrous and so am I.
