Notes on considering an Aeron:
Be sure and get the "Highly Adjustable" version. A bit more $$ but worth every penny over the "Standard" model... and be sure to match the size correctly... the Aeron comes in 3 sizes, A, B, & C (largest to smallest). It makes a huge difference in comfort...
Hope this helps some.

[EDIT] Per robbmasters post, it's true that not every chair fits everyone's body/taste/comfort. If you have 'doubts' about the Aeron, also look into the Steelcase Leap series... similarly ergonomic, and considered by many to be the Aeron's equal (or in some cases, it's replacement!)... And I'd agree, if you can, definitely 'test-drive' a good chair before buying...
best of luck!
+1
this chair will actually record and mix hits for you. Just get it.
I think they've got new models. Don't know about those. I have 2 of the originals. "B" size. Nice.
I sit in an Aeron at work, I kinda hate it. the front of the chair by my knees is too hard, it cuts off the circulation in my legs, sucks in the afternoons. but I might swap for another size.
just bought one of these over the weekend for $130 (from $200)

Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

You should try one of the 4 customizable adjusters built into the chair you missed to remedy thatTone Deft wrote:I sit in an Aeron at work, I kinda hate it. the front of the chair by my knees is too hard, it cuts off the circulation in my legs, sucks in the afternoons. but I might swap for another size.

adjusting the lean forward setting helped.knotkranky wrote:You should try one of the 4 customizable adjusters built into the chair you missed to remedy thatTone Deft wrote:I sit in an Aeron at work, I kinda hate it. the front of the chair by my knees is too hard, it cuts off the circulation in my legs, sucks in the afternoons. but I might swap for another size.

I went for decades using computers with no problems, then we got these fully adjustable chairs and desks. within 2 days I caught carpel tunnel and HAD TO move to a trackball. since then we had to create an ergonomic task force to help employees with all the adjustments and pay for physical therapy for a few people. nice f-ing innovation...

I connected my 4 button kensington trackball with foam, small wood plank, velcro straps and such directly to the armrest of my aeron chair. I put my forearm on the rest at its most natural comfy position, placed the trackball under my relaxed hand and fit the trackball to the chair in that exact position. Took all day. But OMG. I banged out tons of music just becuase i was finally free.
I'd need a chair back, I lean back way too much. I know I'd forget and give myself a concussion.

Spinalis make chairs based on the ball concept, but with backs.
Not cheap though...

Yeah, but you could get $400 from Break.com for submitting the video of just such an event.Tarekith wrote:I'd need a chair back, I lean back way too much. I know I'd forget and give myself a concussion.
(you really have to wonder why somebody would video tape themselves supposedly just sitting down like they do every other day, maybe I'm just a skeptic)

I have an Aeron chair. But I'm going to try out the medicine ball tonight. Never thought of that. Could be good for guitar too since there are no arms. But an errant move could send my Martin flying into the floor->wall->ceiling. Not so cool.
But, for those Aeron people who complain about it's lack of comfort, I know about 90%+ people never read this before sitting in their chair. Makes a world of difference. I can't live without mine.
