I would love to have Operator and Sampler, but I think they should offer some type of package deal if you buy them both. I really like how integrated they are with Live, but I think that they are both overpriced.

I just did 10 manly pushups. Now I'm taking a very cold shower. With all my clothes on.

Never the less, do a search for Operator and check out pages in the 40/41 range and watch the "fireworks". Somewhere around January '05 I think.

I like it and use it very much. That said, I wouldn't buy it again with the similarly priced alternatives available in VST formats usable in any host.

Abletons product policy however is quite doubtful though ..... If you invest in it be aware that you always need to buy the newest Live version to get the current version of Operator - which is pretty unreasonable - that making it really more than overpriced .....

damn...didn't know that...that's enough to keep me from ever buying Operator

For me Operator was worth the cash.
After I played with 'Juice' for Operator from puremagnetik I have to say that's it's even better than I thought. Sounds I have found in that Pack from PureMagnetik's are really inspiring and good. I though Operator wasn't unable to produce such warm sounds. By looking at someone else's Operator Patches and Racks you can learn a lot about it.

Well, I don't think anyone's buying live 6 to get the operator update. It's pretty minimal, nothing like a v2 -- just some new filter types (and maybe something else I'm not thinking of right now). If they released a real v2 type update then it might be worth getting upset about.

Operator is a very versatile synth.
in my opinion worth every penny.
and it's the only soft synth I use these days...
Some othervery good vsti out there, and also some pretty nice free ones!
If you're serious and you can get into the whole 'patching' thing I'd recommend getting Reaktor.

just try em out and make your choice.

Well, the 4pole filters are nice and really add to the sound - and customers of a product who paid the same price for that product are not treated the same way - enough for me to get upset .....
