To me the only main "problems" I could hear were a lack of defined sections and phrases and a need for more eq work on the Kit and vox.
The phrasing/section issues might have been accentuated by lack of phrasing on the vox.
The Kit needs some low end attention as well and maybe incorporate a synth bassline or something around the 10-100 Hz for a nice bottom end and add some 100-125 Hz for some roundness on the Kit and bass.
What sort of Mic was this recorded in? (58?)
This sounds like a great class project. Wish I had something like this when I was at school.
New track featuring my students....
Wow... ok, so I feel like I don't speak the language of production well enough to decipher what your saying hear. I did however figure something out last night after the last time I posted when I actually took the song and listened to it in my car. I realized that it may be sounding different to people because my car has preset EQ's in it... when I set it to "natural" or "no eq" it didn't sound good to me either. I'm going to try to change the EQ on the instrumental a little later in the day today, but I haven't actually tried recording voice into ableton live yet... I've been creating my beats and then recording everything in Garage Band... I'd like to start using ableton to record vocals, but I don't really know how... I'm goin through the tutorial as we speak, but I'm not actually getting it to record for some reason. At any rate, I'd love to know which effects your guys are using to master your tracks... Are they in ableton, or are they add ons? If they are add ons, where did you get them? Right now I'm experimenting with the EQ 4 midi effect.... I also know that I need to do some compression... But I'm not sure if I even understand what compression means... again if you have any advice or even just links to where to go for information on this, I'd appreciate it.Joelb wrote:To me the only main "problems" I could hear were a lack of defined sections and phrases and a need for more eq work on the Kit and vox.
