PS: I run an Ultralight on a PC with a Belkin' Firewire PCI card @ 512 buffers and it runs flawlessly. I can run 20 audio Tracks with plugins' as far as the CPU can go, It only hicups due to CPUS'. No Ti Chipset, Via Chipset!!

I can get even lower latency @ 256 samples running it off my Inbuilt Firewire Port on my ASUS A8jm. It does force the CPU higher, however again, ROCK SOLID, no click no pops, unless I drive it to kingdom come with Plugs!!!

New macbooks are quite cheap, esp if you get a refurb, got 200 euro off mine. Still have the old PC with an emu 1212m audio outs to the Ultralite, I use it as a stand alone synth/sampler now.

128 samples easy here on the macbook, can have it at 64 a lot of the time but it tends to crackle a little on heavy loads. 128 is fine for me though and it's solid.

I have just gotten a motu ultralite and a sunix FW (uses TI chipset) card for my laptop. Everything installs fine, but there is no audio between the UL and the computer. Also, if I press play in live (after having choosen the UL Asio driver) everything just freees until i hit stop again. Setting up mixes with the cuemix app doesnt work either (but setting up from the UL front panel works fine...)

I have just now returned the FW card, and ordered a Belkin instead (since motu support says that they test with Belkin...). If this doesn't work, I guess I'll return the UL again. Bit of a drag though, since I'm on vacation, and bought the UL just to be able to make some music on my laptop... =/

Have you set the power management scheme to "always on". It really is very important.

Hi nolus

What is "Power management scheme"?
Is it the 3 settings in the battery/power icon in the taskbar?

Tested my RME FF 400 with another PC express card -ST LAB C-200 and still no difference. I have given up now and will try 2 things: Test the card on another PC to see if that works or I will try an Edirol UA-101 USB Card.

I tried the MOTU USB card 828 MK 2 but the lowest setting I could choose was 512 samples for some strange reason and it crashed my computer 4 times!

Woe indeed!

RME is working on a ExpressCard host for the Mutiface/Digiface but they don't expect to see these ship before the 4th quarter of 2007,

the only issue i have on my ultralite is every now and then ill get some 'distortion, vinyl crackle sounding" when i haven't rebooted in a while or when i jam too hard on my keyboard... it's odd.

not enough for me to be like 'wtf' but every couple days it will happen

I have the same crackling problem every now and again. Also, the Motu ASIO driver doesnt work with ableton/vista but it does work with Reason in Vista. Been trying to figure this problem out for a while with no luck.

Now I can afford it :D

I got my money back for the Zepto laptop.
I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro now and I still have the RME FF 400 so those should 2 work together like a charm :D

SO FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT!
