hey zorton,

what do you mean by "painting sounds"?

i read online articles or magazines about mixing and mastering. i also have a book or two on mixing and using effects. and i try to do it myself - that's the best way to learn i guess. some magazines such as "sound on sound", "mix", "electronic musician", "eq" have some good articles online.

another practical thing to do is to mix your song, then compare your mix to a commercial release CD. then you know if you have a good level, clarity, etc.

hope that helps.

Painting sound: I give you kick, snare, hihat simple drum channel. You make that sound perfectly... List goes on

Can you tell me you know how to use compressor 100%? EQ?

I listen bass guitar (plugged from VST) its breaking my monitors.. Whatever i do, it will sound like shit.. It sounds too much base, so i cut low frequency, it still sounds too base...

By the way i don't use loop, i create every single note.. You guys use ready to go things i know.. Or electro stuff that already been EQ ed etc..

I want some professional teacher explain slowly slowly... I need to see, hear..

:)

I am planning go US and it will coast too much. I wish i can do this in Hongkong

I currently do this sort of thing as part of my masters @ school of creative media, city u... but i'm pretty sure you don't want to enroll in a whole degree for that sort of thing (: ... let me talk to my lecturer on Monday... maybe they know of some alternative courses in HK they seem to have all sorts of contacts.

hi heidi,

how u finding HK? hot eh?

sorry for late replies, just got back from a trip exploring yunnan china... i have no performances planned at the moment, university is over for this academic year, so i'm traveling/returning to NZ for a bit... i'll be back seated firmly in HK mid august so i'm sure i'll be playing soon after that, and if not i'm sure we could grab a coffee or something.
