Reaktor
Everything else I could duplicate with those two apps.

Well, it's the software I already own:
Ableton Live
Halion
VStation
ReCycle
Would upgrade Cubase VST5.1 to SE3
Would upgrade CoolEdit 2000 to Audobe Audition (maybe Soundforge)
Probably not:
Zero-X Beat Creator (ReCycle can do it)
FL Studio Express (don't use)
Acid (Ableton can stretch)

Live 6.
Arturia Mini Moog
And Waves Limiter if they sold it seperatley.
That's it!
I use a lot of free plugins, but my last track was done using the things above, + a XioSynth but I could live without that as it was just a bassline I used it for (a good one mind you).
Actually, add the reFX Juno on there, some good patches for beefing up your basslines.
And the Xio actually as it's my main audio interface too!

Good question. I think I would test myself and only buy MaxMSP/jitter. Nothing else.

Interesting. You'd buy that before Live eh? You must really be the mad scientist type.

Hmmm?
I know a couple producers who are blowing up pretty hardcore and they don't own any of the software they use, right?
asked, "well why not - you make good money producing"
...and the responce is usually.
"Well, I already spent all this money on (insert hardware), why would I buy a whole bunch of new software."
makes me think, if I lost it all and had to do it all over again knowing what I know now.........
but never fear, I own all the software I use and if I lost it all I'm sure I could get a second licence from most of the software companies I support
but...

Then tell those producers to sell of just one or two pieces of their gear and they could probably pay for all the software they use.
It's pretty ridiculous not to buy the software you use. It's so much cheaper than hardware. People make amazing software products and really don't make much profit at all, people shouldn't steal stuff that's so cheap and replacing what was 10X more expensive in hardware.
I've used cracks before to demo something for a longer time frame without any annoying intermittent noise or timeouts, but to actually make money from something and not pay for it is total bullocks.
But I know you know all that.

Well sure you could usually get another license, but the original question was just a hypothetical.

If I lost it all, the first thing I'd buy would be better (possibly remote) back-up software.
