I used to work in vegas ALLOT! It's a trip-town.....

Now, if you think LA is a plastic/homoginized place, vegas is TEN TIMES that.....but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I do believe the music scene is back on track (there was this weird thing going on like 10 years ago with unions and such that was freaky, I think that is in the past...no?)

Here's the real deal......the mother of all deals........make certain you have some time. If you want instant results.....you're gonna get hurt. It usually goes something like this......

Arrive........
You are "new meat" and people will be as nice as possible THEN will see what they can get out of you
Will try to chew you up-spit you out
How tough-skined are you?
Get the growing pains out of the way......embrace that WHICH IS LV........ and the dessert way....
Realize the unbelievable finacial potential.....
Plug-in....or be plugged in and live the life.

One thing else that is to keep in mind is the LV lifestyle RUINS people. If you go with the girls, gambling, drinking DRUGS as a lifestyle.....you are alreay defeated.....otherwise.......it's not a bad place at all!!!!!!

Now, don't you have a "anti-republican/american" crusade to be bothered with?

I went out last night to de-stress and get several drinks in me (cuz I needed it) and low n behold a wealth of solid replies this morning.
Thanks a ton everybody for the smart words, support and the stupid shit that makes no sense at all. It feels like I have a
few friends in vegas already and I would very much like to grab a beer with anybody here living in or passing through vegas.
I'm really dropping into town without knowing a soul. Keep em comin if you got em. It's been real helpful already.

Any real, non casino, bohemian type joints far removed from the vegas cheese factory?

The Freakin Frog is a great place, they have i think 700+ different beers now. Its across the street from the university. I had a symbiotic relationship with a barstool there for many years. If you want more of a hip locale, try the Beauty Bar downtown. Great DJs and beautiful women with busted hair.

There are a lot of great places here in Vegas, just gotta find them. I'd be happy to grab a drink sometime and give you some ideas. Just shoot me a pm.

Will do, see ya out there in a few months. It makes sense for LVU to be a sort of normal haven. Beauty Bar, nice ring.
