This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. When you realise that the simple ideas are always the best. I feel like I should be writing proper tunes, recording vocals and drums, but because I'm chopping up audio and making noises it 'feels' wrong. I used to average 60+ tracks per song (which is overkill for dancefloor stuff) and ableton has helped me get out of that rut and start enjoying making music again.But I'm concerned that it's gone too far the other way, I don't care about EQing or compression, if a sound doens't fit the mix I just don't use it, I need the quickest option every time so long as you're working on a good idea and it keeps the fun going. So I feel less of a producer because of this.

I've cut back from 3 notes per song to 2 notes per song, and I feel great about it..
