saying there are too many soft synths out there is like saying there are too many hammers. i mean, carpenters should all just use the same hammer right? they all do the same thing right? so someone should tell all the different hammer manufacturers out there that they have over saturated the market and they should make something else besides hammers.
shit, while we are at it, there are too many models of cars too, and microwaves, and toilet paper. we should all just have one of everything and there should be no choices for anyone.

i have found that the ease of use of most of the software i use makes people lazy and therefore there are a lot of producers who do in fact sound similar. but i have also found that if the person using the tool, no matter which tool, knows how to use the tool, they can produce something pretty amazing and original, be it a song, a synth patch, or a set of cabinets.
