the feedback control/ overdubbing function is what is killing me. i still find live the most amazing software i've ever experienced, but it does not have the immediacy that i crave.

There's a great independant radio station that broadcasts from London called "Resonance FM". You can only get it on the air in the London area but they stream to the net so you can listen anywhere. http://www.resonancefm.com/
I've only recently been "tuning in" but they play some mental stuff! All sorts of music, spoken, uncatagorisable arty stuff, experimental electronica, new unsigned artits. Have a listen, it's a good place to discover new stuff. They've even pressed limited compilations to vinyl and are selling them in Tate Modern!

Elvis Costello has everything, really. New A Perfect Circle is kick arse as well. And the Clash's London Calling is the still the best album of rhythmic music ever recorded, anywhere and anyhow.

Earthtone9 have a special place in my heart as well. Pretty soon, their logo might have a special place on my body, if I can find a tatto artist that'll do it for less than 30 quid (I didn't know these things were that expensive!)

Also there's quite a bit of good stuff going on in North Africa and the middle east - if you compare the chart music (Nawal al-Zoughbi!) going on down there to what we have here... well... makes me wanna cry! For something a bit different (not chart-ish at all), Natacha Atlas' Halim and Rachid Taha's Made in Medina are great albums.

awesome mix of stuff everyone is listening to. good to know everyone here has got some good taste. pleasantly surprised to see lots of good jazz and hip hop too. kewl thread. oh, and i need to add one to my list:

the new Tortoise record is simply AMAZING!!! i got to hear it a bit early, i think it's due for release in April.
