can you remove hiss with notch EQs?
I mean, isn't hiss = noise (of some color), and therefore spread out over freq. ranges?
Live's EQs can work well because they are tuneable AND can respond dynamically (envelope amount), whereas most XX-band graphic EQs I know of are fixed-- i.e. you reduce this amount ALL the time.
I've never seen a >32-band graphic EQ VST, sorry...
but for hiss removal, you might consider trying out an Expander and/or notch EQ that can adjust its strength based upon the audio input.
The nice thing about Sound soap and other noise-reduction suites is that they combine several noise-reduction techniques and then add an exciter on the tail end to "restore" some of the lost sparkle.
