Just a note to those who are experiencing insta-crashing of Live on OS X when you load Automat 1.0 -- make sure you copy the included presets into:
~/Library/Audio/Presets/alphakanal/Automat1
If that directory exists, but is empty, Live crashes when you load the plug. If you delete it, it loads fine, auto-creates that directory and will crash on subsequent loads. But if you just create that directory, and copy your presets into it, everything works great.
Only downside is there doesn't appear to be a way to load 0.4.2 presets into it.
Otherwise, I have to admit to being completely infatuated with this plugin.

Neat. Got it working on a PPC without crashes. Just needed to copy the presets, which contain samples and such that automat needs to load.
The amp is all messed up though. And probably some other parameters i haven't got to test yet.
Still, thanks for the tip

I feel so left out, sitting here on my five year old pc. Not that I can generally complain about plug-ins on pc.

Yep. This one should fix the "missing preset folder crash" bug and runs on ppc ad intel

3. I also hope that he picks a damn color scheme for automat and sticks with it. Either that, or add skinning/color scheme support in the plug.

Yeah i know but creating a new skin helps me to think about some strange automat bugs. It's like zen gardening. Only in color.
I added very basic skinning/color scheme support to build 6. Just double click one of the installer script inside the skins folder to install your favorite skin. To create your own skin just duplicate a skin folder, alter the resources as you like and execute the installer script.

This build has been quite stable. Sounds very nice too, great job.
Hey stiwi, I don't know if you've ever tried automat with a novation remote SL, but are you aware that all of the labels appear upside down when loaded as novations automapped (wrapped) version? I mean the labels that change via drop-down menus, showing the current selection, for example LP24. It happens with both 0.4 and version 1.0. It's such a great plug-in to use for automap, it would great to see that little bug sorted.
cheers on a great update so far to a great synth,

Automat sounds even more awesome.
But the Poly switch doesn't seem to be working
It's still great though.

Holy shit it's Stiwi.
Stiwi, I love you. Where do I send you money?
All the synth noises in this little set are Automat:

I love Automat.

Anyone else besides me feel that it is absolutely ridiculous to pay for softsynths with something like Automat available? I've paid lots of cash for supposedly amazing softsynths, and indeed, *most* of them sound very good - ABL2 and the Korg collection come to mind. But few sound so much better then this free synth.

it is ridiculous to pay for plugs when something like automat exists. i love this plug. been in love with alphakanal ever since buzzer and buzzer2 came out. always great sounding, easy to use and cheap (free!) stuff. love it! thanks again stiwi!

Today i released Automat 1.0b build 14. Most of the Sine / Am-Mod / FM-Mod stuff is now optimized for SSE and Altivec instructions. It would be great if somebody could test this build to see if it is actually working.

It runs fine on my Intel Imac.
+ better AM and FM Modulation
+ added more SSE / Altivec code
+ updated modulation view
+ added new filter modes
+ added sine to saw-like morph
+ renamed presets to better fit the usual naming conventions (bass, pads, leads, etc ...)
TODO:
- formant filter still not working
- legato mode does not work
- no random mode on modulaters
- installer is still very un-mac like
Thanks a lot,
stiwi
