pro if it makes you go away forever.
and i mean all of your logins, not just your mean ones.

That is still a very unclear answer. Talk about lack of committment. And to wish death on someone because they "annoy you" makes you a bigger arsehole than me. I myself wouldn't wish death on anyone, but then maybe I'm not as horrible as you make me out to be.
Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.

I'm ruining this forum? Check out my post count. It is an insignificant number of posts to qualify as ruining anything.
Keyser Soze by the way is my only login name (believe it or not). I only post here while I am waiting for other things to get done. Believe me, I have a full and interesting life and rarely spend time here at all.

I believe and understand metaphors and non-literal language.
And he thinks we're arseholes.dinsync wrote: Why so much hate? I'm serious. because I've disagreed with you on a few issues. Because I've added to other people's off topic posts.
Calm down bro.

there was nothing here to ruin.leisuremuffin wrote:you are ruining the fucking forum while acting like you're some how acting positively in some sort of protest.
one day (soon?) the abes will wake up, make an off topic forum topic and this place will be so much better for it.
the first few days, they'll need to move a few topics (never censor) to the off topic forum. after that all the usual suspect will catch on and start posting there. the real assholes (me?) who don't learn might need to be banned for a time.
this is a forum to discuss ableton live. all the bullshit just takes away from it. it is not censorship to ask that people post off topic stuff in a different forum topic.
you're still my bro, bro.

since you want to obfuscate my point and turn this into something it's not i'll simply restate what i want:
No censorship.
No multiple logins so that we can self moderate without bullshit interuptions from people to cowardly to post what they think/feel without hiding behind aliases.
no, i don't believe that KS is your only login. I've been here long enough to remember what you were doing when you first showed up.

The ableton people DO actually moderate the forum - they take down offensive images, language etc etc
if you're being overly rude and offensive they'll send you a reminder email about their "code of conduct" I think MercyPlease posted something about that
off topics aren't killing the forum (if it was ever alive) if you go back to the days when you didn't even have to register to post on here things were just as off topic (and people where even meaner to each than they are now)
should there be an off topic section - sure, why not?! it wouldn't hurt
then you guys can call each other names, make up new handles when you're drunk and post funny pictures of weird stuff etc etc
I don't know who Keyser is but he's got some good points - he's not ruining the forum - angry people looking for conflict are ruining the forum

you want to discuss live?
bring it.
I love to talk about live and electronic music in general, and if you take a look at my post history, you'll notice i do quite frequently.
now have a look at your post history. If dinsync is really your only login, you have absolutely no right to tell anybody else here what is wrong with the forum, because YOU are it. If you have another login, as i believe you do, then you are a coward and should post what you think about the forum under your "respectable" login.
i'm sorry, but no one here is going to side with you fellows over me. And a lot of people here really don't like me that much...

I went to the Bias user forum this weekend looking for help with Peak. You need a serial # just to log-in and get a screen name.
It was a ghost town. Many of the forums hadn't had a new post in MONTHS.
I started reading the threads where users were trying to help each other out and I found posts of people complaining how they were trying to help another user out and their post had been deleted because they said something in their reply that wasn't positive toward Bias.
The Bias user community was sad and frustrated. Using the term "community" doesn't really apply to them.
If Muffin wants to blow off some steam and freak out, I don't mind.
If you people want to yell at each other, fine.
Ableton only steps in when someone is REALLY out of line. I've seen a few thread here that got deleted, and with good reason.
In my mind they're still doing everything right.

yeah, that's how i feel too, but i would really like it if we could get rid of these people with intentional troll aliases. It's just tiresome.
i think that would really make the self moderation thing possible. I can handle someone being an asshole every once in a while, i know all about it myself. What i can't handle is these people who create aliases just to fuck with people. it's too much, man.

personal thoughts regarding 30secs on creating an offtopic forum:
do you think all the trolls will cheer, be happy and from that day on every offtopic thread will be created in the offtopic section and earth will be a nicer place?
pretty questionable, isn't it?
result of creating an offtopic forum would not be a clean general forum but the need for heavy moderation and sorting the general forum every day. and we really prefer to continue doing things we love, producing a cool audio application and offer technical support instead of sorting threads and cleaning after you all ;-)
this forum was given from us to you and it is and will be what you make of it.
also the selfhealing power of this forum is still really remarkable, so enjoy one of the rare places where people try to keep up the freedom of speech, try to spread good Karma and it will stay the uniqie forum we all know and love.
make music. NOW. ;-)
