However, I just get frustrated by the props sometimes, because they're continuing down a development path that I don't think makes much sense.
I think its a development path that makes perfect sense. There's a *cough* reason that CPU is so light and that it never crashes. Its similar to people wishing that Apple would open up and support more 3rd party hardware choices but then also celebrating the stability of the system.

Indeed it does. :o

But if combinators come too live in the form of racks, maybe we'll get groove control on day too ;)

I agree with sqook - it looks cool but it really is aimed at reason users

the fact that they still dont take audio in makes a mockery of the claims they make of "coming of age" - that was always the saddest thing about maelstrom (and scream) is the filters were really interesting but in order to put anything through them that wasnt already a sample or refill was a hassle - really simple thing audio in but they stubbornly refused

and I think it would be much cooler if they made the individual components more accessible as VSTs - they should be looking to the example of FLStudio who is their main competitor IMO and beats them in almost every respect

sorry, I'm sure I'd enjoy having a play, but I'm not hugely impressed - THOR might be fantastic but there are a million awesome synths out there that are VST so you dont have to stuff about with rewire or anything like that

I really think this "all in one" approach is a mistake - in the real world people use lots of different things together and ALL software makers should strive to make that as easy as possible, not go further and further into the standalone approach

I started using Reason years ago, thought it was cool and way more fun than CubaseSX (my previous program), but the no audio thingy meant that I couldnt throw away my crap Cubase anymore.. Then I discoved LIVE and threw away both REASON And Cubase (Actually I didnt throw them away, but they are gathering dust).. I love my NI and Korg plugins, so REASON will need to find a way to include these (and some sort of audio) to get my pound. Going further than that, if they did introduce an audio input, then it would need to improve their audio editing features so that it was as easy and fun as Live.. This is almost impossible, probably why they wont even try. Ableton wins hands down for me.

I loved Reason initially and still thinks it's a good program for certain people - but, yes, the all-in-one approach doesn't make that much sense if you're gonna use it with a DAW, let alone the lack of vst hosting - the #1 reason I abandoned it for NI Komplete.

But, hey, if there's a market for this product, then keep producing Props.

Well, ableton has something to learn from reason.... LANES IN THE SEQUENCER. Also multiple automation lane views. This would be awesome in live. Maybe live7. The groove mixer looks interesting as well.

Live could also do with time signature lane like Reason 4 as well

Only 150 to upgrade.

And it costs 200 for Sampler.

Gee, I wonder where my money is going.

Proof again that the Abs overpriced their add-ons.
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.
