Not sure if this fits the description Nokatus, but this is how I set up sidechain compression.

track1: key
compressor
threshold: -34dB
ratio: 4
attack: 5ms
release: 31ms
audio from: track2 (kick)
pre-FX
monitor: IN
audio to: MASTER

track2: kick
monitor: OFF
audio to: MASTER

track3: synth
monitor: AUTO
audio to: SENDS
sendA: 0dB (100%)

return A:
audio to: track1 (key)

By assigning the key (track1) audio input to kick (track2), the compressor on key (track1) responds to audio coming from kick(track2).

Next comes the channels to be ducked. The synth (track3) audio output is set to SENDS ONLY. Dialing the send A to 0dB (100%) gives audio to Return A.

Return A sends it's output to KEY (track1).

The result is whatever comes in to key (track1) will be ducked.

In this example, the synth is ducked by the kick. It's important to make the synth track's output SEND ONLY, not MASTER. This lets you hear the compressed (ducked) synth sound only.

I set key (track1) "audio from" to PRE-FX deliberately. This lets key (track1) always gets 100% audio from kick (track2), even when kick (track2) is muted.

Another way to do this is permanently assign the "audio to" channel(s) to be ducked (e.g. synth (track3)) directly to key (track1). This bypasses the Send/Return channel.
