hi heino, did you try it with ableton 2.0.3?
in the past we played with 2.0.3 and it was working good, so i´m thinking about installing the old version again to play our gigs!
i would prefer to use the new version, but if there is no way...... ;-(

Think most stable setup is with external masterclock ...

so, if we would use a external clock, like a groovebox... it would work?
but we would need 2 midiouts for both laptops, are there any "midi-splitter"?

mbazzy, yes, you are right, midi clock seems to be a problematic
thing to implement on windows apps...
however, on my system, i get very stable clock when using
for exmpl. cubase sx...
not so with live tho...which is what i want to use!
(and which is what i bought , actually)
so....
it is possible to get stable sync...
ableton?????????
just a word would be fine, like, "we are aware of the problem,
but cant find a solution yet" or whatever, but, i quite miss that...
just a WORD...

hi i'm with an act that utilizes two macs scyched to a common midi source (in this case an electribe) we spliced a midi cable together to make it go to two outs (we each have a midisport 2x2). we both are running decent i books running live however one laptop was running almost exactly 1 bpm behind. we were both running osx, however when we switched the problematic one down to os 9 the problem appears to have been solved. we then concluded it was some issue with his particular computer's midi chip. this was verified when we tried to upgrade to panther and the same fucking problem happened again. we tried all the same solutions (latentcy etc.) has anyone else experienced this in newer mac ibooks running osx?
2 laptops sync problem (Mac this time)

Well, for what it's worth we're banging our heads against the wall too for the same reason. Here's how we've been doing it and what we use.
2 Mac laptops synced together, of course, via MIDI. The MIDI sync clock is provided by a Korg Electribe ER-1, which is sent via a MIDI splitter to 2 usb MIDIsport 2x2s each connected to our laptops. Using Live 1.5 and Mac OS 9.2.2, no problem, flawless sync every time.
Now that we've upgraded to OSX (every version imaginable up to Panther) Our Syncing days are over. You're right, this is a VERY important feature on some otherwise bad-ass software.

To all those with problems, have you tried offsetting the midilatency between your setups in the preferences .
Once you have determined what it is you should be set for the future ...
