There you have the perfect 303 emulation. You can use it via rewire. Its a lot of fun! The rebirth was a commercial product, but its now freely downloadable. I´m surprised nobody has posted this yet. Rebirth is THE vst 303 emulator. To make it work check out the "rewire" section in the manual, and set monitor to "in". Have fun!
I dunno what triggered your engine, but rebirth has long since been surpassed as a 303 emulator.
www.audiorealism.se makes the best 303 emulator (IMHO), D16 is a close second.
Rebirth has its own sound and character.
Its probably the best "free" 303 emulator though.
It all boils down to either needing a cheap solution or an accurate solution.

Ok I didn´t know that. Still in this threat the rebirth needs to be mentioned! I´m sorry if I offended you.

Not at all. Sorry if I seemed offended!
Just pointing out that we have come a long way since rebirth. Rebirth is fun but far from accurate.
Also, rebirth only works for pc users or people who are on Live 4.

as everyone says you wont get operator to sound just like a 303, but the good thing is you can get a much wider variety of sounds for doing great acid lines.
i would definitely recommend just taking some time to work with operator and get your own acid sounds.
like sinnatagg said the filter decay is really important but also the attack, i've found that using a 7 or 8 ms attack time on the filter can really help give it that acid vibe.
still, if you want the 303 sound then definitely try out phoscyon or audiorealism bassline. personally i prefer the audiorealism sound, but there isnt a lot in it.

I made a 303 preset for Operator. Don't forget to program different velocities for the accents.

Sounds reasonably close to the 303 IMO, but either way, nice fucking patch/rack man. Cheers! Very cool!

Simpler is a better choice for trying to emulate Roland303, IMO.
The Operator can easily be switched to a simple 4 oscillator subtractive synth.
But since you admit to not using it, nor knowing much about the 303, how come you say Simpler is better?
