I need the freedom of mind for doing music.
It would be a great stress reliever, and one that is well needed. However, there IS down-time to do stuff. You don't think that it's really like you see in the movies, do you? Non-stop, day after day, month after month, patrolling, shooting, ducking for cover? No one could take that for long. Heck, sometimes you could be stuck in your tent for weeks on end with little to do.

Granted, I wasn't a combat solider, but I hung out with a few from time to time. (I was a C-130 E/H aircraft mechanic during Desert Shield/Desert Storm...the first Gulf War).

any chance of getting some sort of compact audio recording device out in the field? it would be nice to get something like 44.1 recordings rather than the usual super low res you hear...might give you some interesting samples to work with...or *some* of us, if you're feeling generous

:!: actually, now I think of this properly, get a big enough library of sounds compiled and edited - then you could sell it to something like Sound Effects Library.

cool that you could take some gear, rock the casbah!! the dust sounds just like burningman, it gets everywhere and slowly destroys everything. maybe you can find some compressed air on the base to blow your gear out. from what I've seen on the tv there's looong periods of boredom followed by poeriods of being out in the field, having gear around would be good. there has to be a few PAs set up around the base. ;)

haters can skip the thread, the rest of us know who the haters are and can skip their posts, we're used to that by now, it's always the same assholes.

b0unce you hypocrite. can you be a nice guy, ever?

HYPOCRITES?
You all must be silly indeed...
I never started OT topics, i always defended my POVs against the likes of M.Breqs or the other rednecks, whats wrong with that?

Get some 44.1 samples from M.Breqs, no, better go there and record some yourself,

meh, necro posting to call someone out is kinda bullshit, fuck man, with my post count you can find so much bullshit I've posted. let's just move forward. I dropped a line about something, I thought bounce might remember without me having to go into it. b0unce and I could go on and on for PAGES, what's the point?

anyway, recordings would be interesting, maybe binaural??

Ahhh....the classic troll "defended-ing his POV"...so, uh, who attacked your precious POV? Or are you saying that M.Breqs mere presence on the forum offends your delicate sensibilities? (If that is the case, I recommend therapy, or maybe a tampon).

pixelbox wrote:You guys are fucking ridiculous.

At the drop of a hat, you'll make a post about "tarnce" or "Red Bull makes you a better DJ", or piles of other useless crap, but when this guy makes a post about something non-music related, out come the flames.

It's because you have no clue what it is to live. All your life mommy and daddy has spoon fed you and you've been handed everything.

Ya know what? Even if you don't agree with this guys' personal philosophy, and even though you may not agree politically, you can still at the very least, gain some insight into opposing views.

shame on you.
I posted the thread about Red Bull but I haven't said anything negative about this thread or the whole M'Breqs in the middle east subject <--> that's his business and if he cares to share good for him

and I still for the life of me can't figure out what everyone is on about "Tarnce" for - I thought it was "trance" spelled incorrectly but now you've solidified it's a real word with no real meaning

tarnce - Hoffman came up with that one

anywayz, go to my myspace page (click the skull) and leave me a comment about how mixing Linkin Park via Torq is kind of hard...ugh

or leave me a comment about how the shorts I bought yesterday are too big but they're kind of stylin'
