Id be interested to know what other DAW's you are basing this statement on,,
I'm curious as well.
Also, always curious as to what exactly people are doing with sample accurate editing.... most of what I write relies 80% on software, witch needs no sample accurate editing...
Also, I seriously doubt that Logic gets redesigned to be like the other Apple pro apps, and for those of us who've used it for 5 or more years, that's a good thing. There are entirely too many submenus for every window in Logic for them to make any sense of it in the main menu. This is one Apple GUI thing that to me makes no sense, and I certainly don;t want them getting rid of features to please the Apple fan boy crowd.......

I do agree that the audio editing in Logic is crap compared to DP, PT, Cubase etc.

For those with the price gripe......you can get Logic Pro 7 (academic) for 499

I enquired on an auction on eBay and the seller said that no academic verafication was needed.....not sure if this goes for all of them

[quote="Angstrom"]I'm being stupid here, but ...

Logic 7 $999

Ableton 6 $499

I hear the concensus is that the summing engine in Logic 7 isn't as good as Live's.
Although I may have that wrong.[/quote

rubbish.if you believe such nonsense and wouldnt you think that maybe after 20 years in the game the emagic programmers know a thing or twoI will tell you this about live that no one here will believe it has problems with VST velocities its the most unresponsive of all in daws in this area.

Stability was an issue for me too, I ran into a lot of bugs and headscratcher in the 3-4 months I used it recently. Eventually I got sick of the BS, and went back to Live. here's to hoping Apple really pulls off a nice redesign with Logic 8, it's got potential, it just badly needs an update.

IMVHO.
Actually to me Apple have screwed up Logic's workflow. I seriously don't think Emagic would have made any track you hide in the Arrange disappear by default in the Track mixer, that's Apple's "ease of use" getting in the way of logical workflow.
Any track you want to have in the Track Mixer must be in the Arrange, even if you have no use for it in the Arrange, therefore hiding ttracks you have no use to see in the Arrange like busses, and Aux's etc. makes sense, but Apple can't have anything too complex for Joe Six Pack...... so those tracks hidden disappear in the Track mixer....

My feelings are I hope Apple keep their paws out of Logic, and allow them to grow the old functions into something useful.
apple have improved logic a lot.

agreed and if you shop around it can be had second hand for 300. compare logics bundle to live tells me who the greedy ones are. To pay for Abletons sampler and a fairly crap one at that is a joke. anyone that buys it is a fool the best sampler on the market and also kicks the shite out of sampler is short circuit. that sampler has king kongs balls
ITS FOR A TRUE SAMPLIST NOT JOKEY BOYS WHO LOAD LIBRARYS.
