I think this Card still has a lot of issues with OSX, specially in Ableton Live.
TC still needs to update their drivers, however:
This is how i managed to solve/quick fix my Problems with the crackle noises and horrible latency..
- Make sure to install the latest TC panel and firmware, to update firmware just click update firmware from panel after having installed the latest panel.
- Uninstall any soundflower drivers if you had them previously..
- Minimized the power load on your setup/devices, only use what you really need.
- Dont use Hubs, and connect sound card directly to the FW port.
- Set the System sound on System Preferences to Built in Output.
- In Live, use the card "TC NEAR" Buffer set to 256 samples and drive error compensation to -13.0 ms.
- This is a good time to setup any midi keyboards or DAW systems..
- In the TC panel/setup, set the sync to internal and sample rate to 48khz
- In the TC panel system settings set again to internal 48khz
Now here is the deal...
- Dont leave open any web browsers for now, and if possible switch off your bluetooth and internet connection (bluetooth sucks power even if you are not using it.. just like a webcam)
- Turn on Live 6..
- Drag any vst instrument to a midi track and start playing and testing the cards sound.
- Normally the sound will crackle with horrible latency no matter how big the buffer size is.
Now here is the ultimate tip:
- When the sound crackles or stops and gets into your nerves go to TC panel / System settings and change the selected sample rate from 48khz to 192khz
- Now jump into live and your sound is working without crackles and no latency problems, and can take up a lot of vsti without problems..
- The sample rate on the system settings will after awhile jump back to 48khz automatically without you realizing it..
- If by any reason, when you open another project or whatever this happens again.. just change again the sample rate in the card, to refresh it!!
- It will probably happen when you surf internet and the web browser or other music sources somehow changes the sample rate, even if its in INTERNAL LOCK..
- Also if you open any old project.. if it crackles, just do the same.
This card refresh process is really annoying and unstable.. really has to be corrected by TC soon. Maybe with the release of Leopard.
Hope this helps.
Works for me..
let me know if it does it for you.. and what exactly is your problem.
Regards.
