yeah, i feel you neb. but maybe the experience of being in love with a band is atemporal for some... and i'm an old fart i guess.
but if I have to get something that happened in my 31 year life, that would be the Pixies and Radiohead.

I'll throw my hat in for Depeche Mode as well with a tied second between Gap Band and Earth, Wind, and Fire (yes I had to spell the whole thing out. There are kids on this board). You just can't beat a Gap Band or EWF live show even to this day.

Totally agreed...mad respect, and extreme we're-not-worthies to what those fuckers did with a 4-track...
Also, I'm 36 in a week, so I suppose I "lived" through it myself, but it wasn't as relevant to me. I just read the Beatles' wikipedia, and it's amazing the stats that band has...most #1 singles ever, most #1 albums ever, most records sold, most groupies ravaged...I mean the list just goes on and fucking on. So you gotto give it up for sure, but on a personal level, it never hit me.
Then again, the first song I ever remember truly loving is Lionel Ritchie's All Night Long, so don't any of you listen to one other thing I have to say on this thread.

On a Gap Band note, if you guys want to know what some seriously funky electro bass sounds like then I recommend checking out their greatest hits. It doesn't get much funkier…or electro.

Ok I get to be the odd man out...
Soundgarden.
Kim Thayil isn't the worlds greatest guitarist, but damn he's unique in many of his approaches, and then of course, there's Chris Cornell, who is my favorite vocalist.
