The clock multiplier for the e or q6600 is 9.
I just cranked FSB to 300, so I'm running at 2.7ghz. Not too bad. I think my issue before was that my 800 ram was running too fast, so now I reduced the ram multiplier to 2.5, and it's cruising at 750, which is 50 below, so it's all working well.

what's confusing me is that doesn't intel usually refer to the front side bus speed as 4 times the clock speed
I mean my old P4 has a FSB of 800 (200 clock)

The CPU has a clock multipler of 9 that is where the 3.01 GHz comes from. But the actually FSB since the C2D has the quad pump thingy is times 4 for 1336
