I've never heard of someone having their copy of Ableton Live stuck in loop mode.

So things to try:
1. record in Session view
2. Record in Arrangement view, but make sure:
2a) LOOP MODE IS OFF
2b) Punch in and Punch out markers are OFF

(both buttons in upper transport, check manual for pics)

After this... well, there are some very involved workarounds people use to try to get Live to record a 4-bar loop, but this is done in the session view. Still, do a search for "Live Looping" if you are curious, maybe you have a setting people would kill for.

Still, you might go under Preferences > Misc > Behaviour and turn Start Record on Launch to off if its not already.

Bottom line: the way to record a song is to hit record, play your song, then hit stop.

You've done something to prevent Live from doing so. I still think you've got Loop mode on.

Yes it does the following:

OK, when you say Live records a 4 bar loop with loop mode off... do you mean it records 4 bars, and keeps recording from the start over the top of the 4 bars until it has recorded another 4 bars over the first 4, then records a third loop over the second, etc... etccc...

Maybe I'm missing something because I couldn't find how to just Record My Entire Track anywhere in the Manual and like I told Amaury I sleep with the Manual (my Wife may think I'm crazy but I want the answer) and I'm sure it's something simple but sometimes that can stump us. I don't know if you Remeber the program EZ Visions (Mac Classic) I had all my Equipment Setup the Same Way I do with Live! 6 and one day it just stop working, so I took it to School ( Los Angeles Recording Workshop) with me along with my Roland W30 (which I still have and use as a Controller) and had my Instructor (Steve) looked at it and turns out "Keyboard Sync" was unchecked. Needless to Say I felt smaller than a Ant. So I'm sure it's something simple. Thanks Laird.

Reading that makes me thing: stick to arrangement, and make sure the Loop, punch-in and punch-out buttons are OFF. Once you start recording, it will never stop

Thanks for all your help; the Problem was I saved a Stock Setup and Loop was saved in the Template so it would always be ON when I startup but I figured it out with Your Help. Thank You.
