yeah, great tool! thanx a lot for this one...
only one question left (maybe i don´t get it right):
how do you guys switch between the 8 drums with the padkontrol or something similar? i assigned all 16 steps to my buttons, but how do i switch easily between the drums, so i could use this sequencer without even touching the rack...? understand what i mean? seems like i don´t get it at the moment...
thanx & regards, mark

Just what I was thinking when I read up on the new Drumrack. Step Sequencers allow you to make such wicked percussion so easily. You just don't get that kind of speed and efficiency with the regular piano roll way. The new Drumrack + a step sequencer would be insane.
Reasons Redrum is still the best thing I have ever used. Infact, just downloaded a VST copy of it for Live so that I can use the same method in there. Would be nice if Abes provided an internal one though that works with the new Drumrack.

Well, best one i've used until now and i'm still (trying to) using it.
what i actually am missing is the same kind of sequencer rack
but having the 16 step encoders set the note pitch of that step instead
of triggering the velocity.
this would be helpful when sequencing synth sounds to be able to
play melodies directly. i was thinking about just to add a "pitch"
or "scale" midi effect, but that modifies 1 complete bar instead of
every step seperately.
oh god i hate my english when trying to explain something....

By default, it has 8 tracks and 16 step pattern length but it is expandable to unlimited tracks and pattern length.
You can set the velocity for each step individually.
Best usage is with an external midi controller like monome or korg padkontrol.
Or build your own with encoders for each step, so you can control the velocity for each step and create eg. snarerolls in seconds.
Just assign 16 buttons to the 16 step encoders.
You can set the note value for the track by changing the "scale" item in the chain for each track.
In the example, they are mapped to trigger an impulse, but you can use them for anything you want.
Another trick is: use the step sequencer for jamming and then record the midi in impulse track. You can create unlimited patterns like this, but they are no longer editable by the step sequencer if you record them
