Can 3rd party instruments play in rewire mode yet?

If not... well, that's just sad.
But the rest looks pretty good coming from version 5.

Did Operator get anything at all?

Someone said Operator got a high quality mode... oversampling I guess so you get smoother highs if you want em
It's interpolated AND anti-aliased now - much improved sound - but can be turned off individually as well for grit. It also has a vastly improved pitch envelope (you can control the transpose of the release, which is key for drum sounds)

and it also has a new envelope loop mode: trigger - which basically does one-shot sounds, also essential for a lot of drum sounds.

And as I wrote earlier, the filter movements are smoother now, too.

Here's a really quick kick-sound made with the new, improved Operator

Sampler now defaults to a new Constant Power loop fade mode, which sounds awesome. And there's a bunch of new stuff in there too.. I can't even remember half of it.

So far I'm very pleased with 7 beta, but I can't believe they didn't add crossfades.

i'll quote myself from the post one year old:
1) THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - (and i asked this for zillion times) i want to be able to select more samples at once. but only the samples, not the part of time in arrangement. i'm sure you all used selection tool at some point, know what i'm talking about? to be able to do "select and move" operation in my project i need to zoom in and out 100 times and still i'm not sure if some part of some file is not cut somewhere. I HATE THIS!

2) i hate the rule in Live that one sample is erasing another one if it's put on the top of it. i want to be able to hear both of them with the crossfade option for transition. cubase, logic, vegas users, are you with me?

3) speaking of crossfades, why can't we get quick hold & drag fade in/out options for every sample. it gets on my nerves when i have to click a couple of hundred times to do this with volume envelopes.
are those things changed/improved?
thanks.

Folding many tracks into one visual track to save space? No?

As long as it's 100% understood that I think the changes to the new version are all pretty darn great and this is a list of big wishes...I'll jump in and post here:

- Support for surround sound
- Support for comping/multiple takes in the Arrange window
- The ability to recall effect and instrument presets using MIDI PGM changes.

- SOME form of mixer "scenes" (so i can instantly switch between one complex mix and another...but keep the same clips playing).
- General speed and UI improvements in Arrange window.

- OSC support.
- Manually defining the MIDI assignments (without having to move a physical MIDI fader)
- Improved mapping of MIDI values to parameter values (define ranges, automatic midi not to frequency conversion etc)

Me - I don't need virtual instruments. But it seems lots of folks do so that's great that they are now there and getting better all the time.

I wish the external instrument and effect plugs could pull internally to route audio within Live ( I mean, you could do it with 3rd party audio routing software).

I wish there were curves on things like the gate release time, etc...

It would be cool if there were LFos, Envelopes, etc.. that could be routed to whatever.

I havent seen it mentioned anywhere yet, so I presume the right hand section in Arrange View is STILL the same colour as the main arrange section :( :(

.
you can sort of route audio by using the 'monitor' function of compressor, that has it's own routing you see. You can suck audio in from around the app and into a rack chain.
It's a hack, and not the best , but it's what we have.
