It's all in one track. It looks and feels exactly like a VST.
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

For anyone out there like me who records piano audio directly into Live and has been infuriated by the way Live automatically warps the recorded audio: This is for you. And I'm not even talking about the freezing bit, though that sounds amazing... I'll try that now!

It's difficult to explain just how useful this is... you basically don't need to bother recording the audio from your MIDI device at all. You can now record a performance, hear it back exactly as you played it (hallelujah!), and then go in and correct the timing/pitch etc and you DON'T EVEN HAVE TO THINK ABOUT RE-RECORDING! Mmmnnhh soilage...
Yeah, I like to keep the more natural sounding stuff in there sometimes as well..Kindof along that line, I've been working with recording by midi keyboard, and then editing, but the notes seem to jump to the next major track point, rather than move by smaller increments, once the track view is folded. Is there already a way to set it up for smaller increments? Even back in fruity loops, this was possible, so I'm almost sure I'm just not looking in the right place. Thanks for helping to save time!

Didn't think about that. I got good drums in my hardware devices....
Did you already tried it? these means GM Drums MIDI clips and freeze the track later, amazing...

you can use external effects, and put them anywhere in your effect chain!!!
and this works with NO latency?
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

there is a latency setting in the plug

so yup save that as a preset and .. yum

and you can control the input gain to the FX (hello huge delay tails with out using a send)

I'm not sure what you mean by the track view being folded, but it sounds like you just have the grid enabled. I can't remember what the keyboard shortcut is (I'm on a different laptop than my Live one atm) but if you just right-click on the note editor you should see an 'off' option (from memory that's what I think it is?) - just hit that and you should be able to slide to your heart's content.

Haven't replied to the questions to me before cos everyone else has done already :) except the one about naming midi CCs - don't think that's possible, but I'm not entirely sure the implementation of the automation parameters has been completely done yet so... hopefully? It's a good idea...

Has anyone out there tried using this with Logic's Mainstage app? Sounds like it could be a cool way to use Logic's instruments/effects with Live....

Bump. Has anyone tried the new external instrument device with other software like reason or logic/mainstage?

My previous experience with live and reason was not so great. I just tried it yesterday with the external device plugin and it was beautiful. Response time was great, it only took up on track (not two), and it seems really, really easy.

Almost makes me want to upgrade from 3 to 4 now for Thor :)
