from what I can gather Logic has alot of under the hood updates. Going from the PPC to Universal Binary full support took a while and It seems that that took a bit of time. Apple has done a huge amount of reprogramming stuff over the last few years so giving them a hard time for being a little slow i feel is a bit harsh.. look at the overall picture of what the company has been doing software wise with the intel switch and they have done an amazing job. To the question of whuch to use that is a very tough question. It all depends on your work flow and style. Both DAWS are great but approach things in a different manor. To me live is all about clips and doing stuff on the fly. I love it cause i can compose without stopping, try different ideas and not get in the way of my creative side. Logic is a totally different beast.. It is more your standard DAW work flow... real studio recording stuff..
Take your pick but personally I think they both fill a different role and therefore complement each other.

Ok, I think I'm going to go with Logic. I just don't find live as inspriring as I once used to, but don't get me wrong- I still love Live and plan on using it forever. I also plan on majoring in recording and music production, so I guess it would be a good idea to get my head around a more production-oriented DAW.

btw I'll probably pick up the live suite as well, once I have the money and if I like the instruments after demoing them. Its just that the M-audio Microtrack II is so irresistably tempting!!

Slice this - it doesn't have a slicer!

Apple are doing a classic drug pushers job - lure 'em in with cheap crack and free pipes and soon we'll have 'em hooked... then all your bases are belong to us ! And your next hit will cost you 50 stolen car stereos, 20 pairs of top of the range Nikes and Reeboks and your soul...

nice conspiracy theory.. but i think you might have been hanging around too many drug pushers as this is not something that would happen.. there are always other choices and frankly if you drop the price on something try putting it back up later and see what happens... software is interesting as they have to convince you you need to upgrade.. the only way Vista is selling is with new systems and people would stick with XP if they had the option. I expect Leopard on the MAc will be pretty much the same. Tiger is so good they will find it hard to sell it as an upgrade ... Logic at this stage from all reports is very very good and studios just dont run out and upgrade their software very often

I think REX files can now load in Ultrabeat as well.
