Flexi,
rewire is activated by first running the rewire master application - in this case live. In some rewire master apps you must first select the reason input and the open up reason, but in live I don't have to do that - perhaps others do. Reason then detects at startup a rewire master and opens as a rewire slave.

Reason won't recognize garageband as a master, but live will.
Looks like we need to move this questioning to the Reason board.
Thanks all.

Tim,
Even when reason is not running I can select reason inputs in live. Before re-installing reason, download the demo of Live and see if it installs the rewire engine properly.

And remember to try bidule.
It will help narrow down the problem.

Sorry... what's bidule?

Bidule is another app that can act as a rewire slave. Download and install bidule. Before opening bidule open live and see if Plogou Bidule device inputs are available in live. If they are, the problem is reason related. If they are not, the problem is live related.
BTW in Live, under the view option in the menu, have you checked 'In/Out'?
Rewire problem

OK, I downloaded the Plogue item, and Lo and Behold, in Live, it sees the Plogue as a rewired item. So excitedly, I quit Plogue and booted Reason. Then...square 1!

No Reason (pun intended!)
Must be a Reason issue (?).

Bingo -it's a reason issue. Reason's rewire engine is not installed properly. Off to the Propellerheads forum you go!!
Off with my Propellerheads!

Off I go to the PH website discussion board. Sign up, log-in and hit the threads. Wellllll, who designed this thing anyway? One thread leads to nothing connected! Some one makes a post (yeah, I'm interested in this guys Rewire/Live problem, then suddenly, the next post is about a guy loosing his job! Yikes!).
All I want is THE answer!
I will post here with my next successful answer.
I hope...

Flexi,
The quick and dirty answer is to a fresh install of reason. That's probably what they are going to tell you any how.

If you read the thread it outlines how to debug your rewire installs and determine if it is a reason or LIVE issue.
Reinstalled Reason

I re-installed Reason 2.5, and everything seems to be working.
I read the thread, and got lost somewhere between page 1 and 2 ...
but the reinstallation seems to have solved the problem ... perhaps after installing the Live 3.0.4 update ... that is where I lost the Rewire connectivity ...
Thanks for your thread ...
