I'm currently getting a laptop custom designed for audio by ADKProAudio. They use the best components (same as Mac Book Pro), the price is cheaper then a Mac Book Pro (with special bundle deals when you buy software and/or hardware from them...I got $50 off a saffire pro 10i) , they'll install all your software and your audio interface software, and they have a great support program.

I would find the mac book too limiting, especially in a year or two, the small screen and integrated graphics which suck out system memory do cause performance issues, especially in a scrolling arrangement view in Live. Maybe fine for DJing but if Live is your main DAW and you're running 30-40 tracks with lots of sends and inserts and CPU burning softsynths and plugins you will regret not spending the extra on the Mac Book Pro. Just whacking in another GB of ram won't cure some of those problems.

If you have any balls about it do what I've done with the last three Apple laptop purchases, and buy off Craigslist. The last two have been SMOKING deals! Last week I called an add for a 17" macbook pro, and the guy brought an unopened box! $1750 That's +$1049 +tax off the going price! 8O
Craigslist, dangerous for me around payday, ( I get paid out once a month)
