Answers:
is it difficult to attach/remove it from the screen (assuming you have to remove it to shut the lid)?
Very easy...just four quick velcro strips and it's on...but you DO have to calibrate every time you boot up. You go to the icon on your desktop marked "Touch USB" and press the four corners of the touchscreen to calibrate and activate the screen.
do u have to apply much pressure to click the screen?
No...it's quite sensitive...but a little more pressure won't hurt when dragging things.
is it as fragile as it looks?
Hmm...good question. I guess the answer would be "yes." But I won't be rough-housing with it, either. It's a fair question though. It comes in a vinyl portfolio-like holder. I'll be throwing it in with the laptop in the laptop's case...so we'll see.

I couldn't say, since I've only used the USB version. However, I did discover that you HAVE to use the SAME USB port every time with the screen or it doesn't think it's intalled when you boot. Small issue, but important.
I'm performing tonight with both Ableton and Traktor with it....I'll let you know. Again, I'll be using my Edirol for the knobs in Traktor. Knobs are just not the Touchscreens thing. Faders are great, though. And scratching the wav files in the Deck windows in Traktor is awesome!!

Well, to be honest, I found myself using the mouse-pad on the laptop alot. Mainly because of habit, though...and still feeling new with the touchscreen.
In general, though, it worked great. Big buttons like on Traktor are a piece of cake. Triggering clips in Ableton: tougher. But I haven't grown out my index fingernail yet.
I will say one thing that is NOT good about the touchscreen: panic situations. I triggered something wrong or something happened...and I pressed blindly trying to trigger a clip...and missed about 3 times. Yikes.
Again, a straight-up laptop performer (using the stylus, especially) will love this thing. I'm a keyboardist, so it's going to take some practice (and a needle-like fingernail

)

I have a UC-33 but reading this prompted me to mess about with using the arrow keys for knobs as I've never tried it and i just noticed that holding shift doesn't seem to make a difference to the speed on the pan knobs - am I missing something?
love the idea of the touch screen as I'm already getting strain in my finger and wrist from a mouse and I'm only 28! (does have a bit to do with a fall on that hand a couple of years ago though, but definitely made worse by mouse) and while I'm waiting for minority report style virtual holographic stuff, (or at least gloves and visor!) then options like this seem like a good mouse replacement

That was funny.

Hard to believe this thread started so long ago. I am/was planning on buying the magictouch add on. Any updates? Can the add on screen handle 896 X 600 resolution? Did firing off clips get easier?
Sincerely, a keyboard player/performer/abelton jockey just like you.

That's Dj-grobe's work. There's a long thread on the topic somewhere around here...
