Your prefs are set up (in the image you posted at ALDJ) for straight ahead one control at a time midimapping. So try the test I suggested - Map one knob to one slider, and see if it works correctly.
It doesn't even let me map anything. The snapshot you saw was an occasion when it worked. It will not map at all.

So just to clarify how I would set it up,
1 Make sure it is in U mode and not S mode.
2 Click Midi on live
3 Hold edit and click a button or move encoder
4 Click edit again, we're in edit mode
5 Click a track or volume I want to edit
6 Hold edit and click a button or move encoder
7 The CC number will display in live.
I do this but step 7 never happens.

hmmmmm, ok, you're trying to use the internal mapping mode of the BCR... that's not the easy way to do it.
you'd better use Live's mapping:
- click on the MIDI button (top right hand corner) or press Ctrl-M
- select the parameter you want to assign in live
- turn the corresponding knob on the BCR
- exit mapping mode
(note: you have to do that for each set)

See thats the way I thought it shoule be but when I do that I get nothing. I defo think the unit is faulty.

Make sure your prefs are still set up correctly - the way you had them in the pic I looked at. Then if it still doesn't work use some kind of midi monitoring program to make sure you are actually getting signal from the BCR 2000. (Midiox maybe - I am on a mac?)

Looks like it was a connection issue, I got a dud unit. I have to remove the usb cable and move it about slightly then open up Liave again for it to work.

Yeah, that's what it seemed like. Hope you can return it.

Yeah I'll have to get on to Behringer, problem is I bought it in the Uk and I'm in Ireland.
