i quite like my SL!

i'm not relying on automap much, but i did make my own templates, with the template editor on pc, and they work great! i have entire left side except pads dedicated to one plugin, and the entire right side dedicated to another, except the transport controls.

i wish there was a way to update the original SL series to be able to have the functionality of the speed dial on the Compact series, but other than that, i'm happy. and maybe that will come in the next update which is due out soon.

that doesn't sound good. are you talking about automapping with live's devices or vst/au plugins?

I didn't notice the speed dial, that makes it even more interesting, will have to go and check it in a shop.
Any Compact users out there ?

ReMote SL Compact 25

Post by LiveUserX » Thu Nov 29, 2007 10:00 pm

I think the ReMote SL Compact is great. Super easy to use, read, and program. I use both automap and midi control. The Compact SL is the perfect complimentary piece to my Mackie Control Universal with Live.

I originally ordered both the ReMote SL 25 and the Compact. The Compact is better built and seems to be quite the improvement over the original SL. The ReMote SL 25 (original) is going back to the retailer for full refund.

I don't think any of the ReMote SL controllers are the total package by themselves. However, an SL Compact 25 paired up with an MCU is just the ticket for my studio.

Novation used to be excellent. When they made synths. :?

I like my X-Station, and thought about jumping in with Automap and an SL, but I'm glad i didn't.
The X-Station plus Kore 2 is working really well for me. Just use MIDI assigning on the X-Station for things I don't need in a Kore instance, and Kore for synths and over the 128 parameter limit.

I would love some sort of open source thing, or Ableton to fully support all devices with proper documentation and over 128 parameters in Live, but Kore works for me now, and that's what matters.
