Disagree.

But clear out the porn. That's just offensive.

I could easily go into doze. I've been known to slumber while typing away on this forum. Laptop in me knee. My ass on the couch. Eyes only half open.

A clean up method is long overdue

It can't be that hard to implement.

While we're at it let's drop the use of puerile expletives?

was thinking the same thing - at any rate the irony of posting about the woes of unmoderated forums on an unmoderated forum is quite glaring ;)

i don't know guys, where would we go for Ableton-related porn?
instead of banning filth, they should make a separate elaborate forum hierarchy dedicated to it, here's an example:
  • Ableton Forums
    • General
      Link Your Music
      Tips and Tricks
      PORN
      • cum-hungry asian nymphomaniacs from hell
        • pacific islands
          japan
          thailand
          china
          • mainland
            taiwan
            hong-kong
            • bisexual
              bestiality
              on a bicycle
              opera singing
              engrish speaking
              • not funny
                moderately funny
                really funny
                • nebula-approved -> crosspost to general
                  other
                  ...
                  etc.
this little bit of organizational effort will go a long way towards helping both the end user and the hardworking spambots.

If you make it registered users only there will be no need for a admin.
Think it solves it all

I'm not quite sure about this one, as it would rule out a lot of users asking questions regarding their upcoming first purchase (and there are quite a few of those, esp. at the moment)

- It would however be fun to see how many of the forum regulars disappear mysteriously in the transition

I got a copy of Live Lite free. They could have a system where you could request a copy of Lite free for those trying it out, have a system of registration and perhaps a little help to get going. Then they would probably find that they would quickly win over a new user who would then shell out the $$ to buy the big version. Apart from organising the registered user thing, they would make it easier for people to buy Live rather than other options, especially the ones that don,t allow you to save any work (the other freebie was Protools M-Powered 7). The learning curve is too steep for users new to software based music. For me, the only reason I am persisting with Live is because Ableton have made it easy for me to handle the learning curve by letting me save some of my work. Slightly off topic, however, those who are considering live could have limited access to the forum via a registration system specifc to Lite, where those of you who are the bees knees at using the software, and maybe have a heart to be bothered with answering all of those noobie questions could offer your hard fought advice.
Cheers to those who have helped me!

you have to do something. there has to be a line drawn somewhere

I agree, this sort of rubbish needs to removed from our forums
and as someone else said it is long over due.
